PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

In our Biotech department, you will transform multidisciplinary product requirements into robust mechanical designs, developing functional models and prototypes to validate concepts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the mechanical design workflow and ensuring proper documentation from concept to market release while guaranteeing performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Creating 3D models and detailed drawings with proper GD&T and contributing to the definition of technical specifications.
  • Collaborating closely with systems engineering, electronics engineering, quality, science, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical solutions into the overall system architecture.
  • Supporting supplier selection and engaging in technical discussions with clients and external partners to contribute to cost optimization and Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFA).

YOUR PROFILE

  • A Bachelor's degree (ETH/FH or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical/product development within multidisciplinary and regulated environments, preferably in life sciences.
  • Expertise in SolidWorks (modelling, assemblies, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis); experience with SolidWorks PDM and simulation tools (FEA) is a strong plus.
  • Experience in developing mechanical concepts, detailed designs, and technical documentation, including specifications and drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of applicable machinery and laboratory equipment safety standards, especially IEC 61010-1; familiarity with ISO 12100 and risk assessment methodologies is desirable.
  • Understanding of key manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication and machining; consistent application of DFM/DFA principles in designs, with experience in injection molding and additive manufacturing being a plus.
  • A structured, independent, and solution-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative and agile environments, communicating effectively across technical domains and organizational levels.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of German is advantageous.
