PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
The Product Development Engineer will translate multidisciplinary product requirements into robust mechanical designs while developing functional models and prototypes to validate concepts. The successful candidate will manage the mechanical design workflow and its documentation, from concept to market release, ensuring performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings with proper GD&T.
- Contribute to the definition of technical specifications.
- Collaborate closely with systems engineering, electronics engineering, quality, science, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical solutions into the overall system architecture.
- Support supplier selection and engage in technical discussions with clients and external partners.
- Contribute to cost optimization and design for manufacturing (DFM/DFA).
YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree (ETH/FH or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferable.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical/product development in multidisciplinary and regulated environments, preferably in life sciences.
- Proficient user of SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis); experience with SolidWorks PDM and simulation tools (FEA) is advantageous.
- Experienced in developing mechanical concepts, detailed designs, and technical documentation, including specifications and drawings.
- Solid knowledge of applicable machinery and laboratory equipment safety standards, particularly IEC 61010-1; familiarity with ISO 12100 and risk assessment methodologies would be a plus.
- Understanding of key manufacturing processes, especially sheet metal fabrication and machining; consistent application of DFM/DFA principles in designs is essential. Experience with injection molding and additive manufacturing is a plus.
- Independent, structured, solution-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a pragmatic mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in highly collaborative and agile environments, with excellent communication skills across technical domains and organizational levels.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.
- Must have legal authorization to work in Switzerland.
