PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer for our Biotech department. In this role, you will translate multidisciplinary product requirements into robust mechanical designs and develop functional models and prototypes to validate concepts.

You will be responsible for the mechanical design workflow and its documentation, from concept to market release, ensuring performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Creating 3D models and detailed drawings with proper GD&T.
  • Contributing to the definition of technical specifications.
  • Collaborating closely with systems engineering, electronics engineering, quality, science, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical solutions into the overall system architecture.
  • Supporting supplier selection and technical discussions with clients and external partners.
  • Contributing to cost optimization and design for manufacturing (DFM/DFA).

YOUR PROFILE

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree (ETH/FH or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical/product development in multidisciplinary and regulated environments, preferably in life sciences.
  • You are an expert user of SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis). Experience with SolidWorks PDM and simulation tools (FEA) is a strong plus.
  • You have experience in developing mechanical concepts, detailed designs, and technical documentation, including specifications and drawings.
  • You possess solid knowledge of applicable machinery and laboratory equipment safety standards, particularly IEC 61010-1. Familiarity with ISO 12100 and risk assessment methodologies is a plus.
  • You understand key manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication and machining, and consistently apply DFM/DFA principles in your designs. Experience with injection molding and additive manufacturing is a plus.
  • You are independent, structured, and solution-oriented, with strong analytical skills and a pragmatic mindset.
  • You work effectively in highly collaborative and agile environments, communicating seamlessly across technical domains and organizational levels.
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • You must have the legal right to work in Switzerland. Please indicate your current work authorization status.
