About Us
Ad Terra is a Swiss-based geoscience and engineering consulting firm, as well as a renewable energy operator, dedicated to unlocking Earth's boundless energy potential in a responsible manner.
Position Summary
We are actively seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and skilled Senior Geophysicist with expertise in structural interpretation and experience in Quantitative Interpretation (QI). In this pivotal role, you will be integral to the success of our energy consulting projects, working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional support to our clients. Your contributions will be crucial in the technical work related to petroleum and geothermal energy projects, as well as in supporting the prospection of critical raw materials.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structural seismic interpretation and mapping with a focus on geological and engineering objectives.
- Integrate information from various imaging approaches.
- Apply seismostratigraphic principles or seismic texture recognition to support lithological and stratigraphic predictions.
- Supervise quantitative interpretation, including poststack and prestack inversion for rock properties and seismic well ties.
- Integrate AVO/AVA/AVAZ/VVAZ principles into the interpretation and resulting geological models.
- Perform seismic processing quality control with respect to geological and technical targets and concepts.
- Conduct time-to-depth conversion and apply velocity models determined from VSP, sonic integration, and geological data for PreSDM velocity model building.
- Manage data, including loading seismic data, well information, and logs.
- Compile regular progress reports and project status updates.
- Prepare high-quality maps and reports.
- Support the planning of exploration targets and drilling activities.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Geology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the energy sector.
- A passionate and proactive approach to geology and geophysics, coupled with strong teamwork skills.
- Strong practical knowledge of specific software, including Kingdom Suite (S&P) and AspenTech (formerly Paradigm).
- In-depth understanding of geological concepts, lithology, and rock properties in relation to structural deformation and reservoir/seal pairs, with a capability to challenge geological well correlations.
- Expertise in seismostratigraphic principles and seismic texture recognition for facies and lithology prediction.
- Knowledge of Quantitative Interpretation technologies and rock physics, including rock property inversion.
- Familiarity with seismic imaging principles, including azimuthal and offset substacks for target-specific interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of carbonate geology and extensive experience in seismic interpretation of carbonates.
- Knowledge of AVO/AVA/AVAZ/VVAZ workflow integration.
- Experience with seismic well ties workflows, including time-depth-time and depth-to-depth conversions of seismic and interpretation data.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in French and/or German is a plus.
