Job Opportunity: Principal Scientist
Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine division is seeking a skilled Principal Scientist to join our Global Process, Biotherapeutics Drug Product Development and Delivery organization, based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead late-stage process development, technology transfer, process validation, and filing activities across both internal and external manufacturing sites, providing scientific support and technical project management.
- Oversee critical process development projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
- Author technical transfer documents, including protocols, reports, criticality analyses, and regulatory submissions in a timely manner.
- Assist local or external manufacturers in troubleshooting parenteral products by applying scientific expertise.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on scientific aspects of fill/finish manufacturing of parenteral products during internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with established Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine platforms and ensure alignment with submitted CMC dossiers and cGMP regulations.
- Provide feedback to development teams regarding technical performance and adherence to Janssen’s process development approaches.
- Engage in parenteral networking to facilitate the seamless transfer of drug product manufacturing processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
- Contribute to the development of scientific strategies for new product introductions concerning fill and finish processes, either for external or internal manufacturers.
- Work independently and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Expertise in current and future manufacturing principles and processes, particularly applicable to large molecules fill and finish.
- Demonstrated experience in biologics drug product development within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of drug substance and/or drug product processes required.
- Extensive experience in biopharmaceutical process design, technology transfer, and drug product fill/finish operations.
- Familiarity with a range of container-closure systems, including vials, syringes, and relevant delivery devices is preferred.
- Proven creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and/or English.
- A motivated self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving aptitude.
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field with at least 6 years of experience OR a PhD in one of these fields with at least 4 years of experience is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Travel requirements range from 10-30% depending on project needs.
