Daedalean is a Zürich-based startup founded by seasoned engineers dedicated to revolutionizing air travel over the next decade. We integrate computer vision, deep learning, and robotics to develop full “level-5” autonomy for flying vehicles.
Your Role
In this position, you will technically guide the Machine Learning engineering team and contribute to the development of the first certified AI avionics.
Your Tasks
- Actively contribute to the application-level development and verification of our flagship Visual Traffic Detection system.
- Oversee our Machine Learning certification strategy.
- Maintain and enhance our data processing and ML training infrastructure.
- Manage a large codebase using Rust, Python, and C++.
- Take on urgent, complex, or otherwise challenging tasks that require immediate attention.
- Maximize the effectiveness of limited resources, including headcount and infrastructure.
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent programming skills in C++ and/or Rust.
- A Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Practical experience in deep learning for computer vision within an industry setting, ideally encompassing the entire stack from model architecture to the design and implementation of evaluation pipelines.
- Demonstrated research skills in both industrial and academic environments, with the capability to tackle challenging problems over extended periods.
- Proven experience leading projects adhering to tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills.
Experience in aerospace engineering or avionics is not required; we will provide comprehensive training on the constraints of safety-critical systems in airworthy applications.
