Principal Engineer at AES
AES is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Principal Engineer who will serve as an individual contributor in developing cutting-edge technologies and products. This position plays a vital role in overseeing the research, development, and design of engineering projects within the organization.
The Principal Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, ranging from managing budgets and negotiating with vendors to delegating workloads. Additionally, this role involves training team members, establishing project deadlines, and enhancing engineering application processes. You will engage in all phases of product development, including defining requirements, designing solutions, troubleshooting issues, characterizing products, verifying functionality, and manufacturing software processes.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and provide technical standards and guidance for all software design and development activities.
- Support and facilitate maintenance and upgrades of existing software applications.
- Conduct design reviews and offer technical recommendations.
- Support the entire software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Ensure that all projects meet high-quality standards.
- Mentor and train software engineers.
- Assist in analyzing and troubleshooting application issues.
- Create effective technical solutions tailored to business needs and requirements.
- Recommend new technologies to enhance productivity.
- Collaborate with teams to plan, prioritize, and complete project assignments.
- Participate in risk assessments and mitigation activities.
- Attend regular meetings to discuss project updates, issues, and innovative ideas.
- Engage in technical audits and ensure implementation of recommended improvements.
- Conduct business presentations for management.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to develop test cases, procedures, and plans.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Over 15 years of total software experience with a minimum of 8 years’ experience specifically with DeltaV.
- Extensive knowledge of various software development technologies and tools.
- Strong commitment to staying updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
- Good Automation Manufacturing Practice (GAMP) experience.
- Control system experience with DeltaV.
- Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service focus.
