Your Responsibilities

This postdoctoral position involves research, education, and service delivery, specifically within the context of Veterinary Parasitology and the National Centre for Vector Entomology. The key responsibilities include:

  • Developing an innovative and internationally competitive research programme on helminthology that complements ongoing research activities.
  • Applying state-of-the-art immunological and multi-omics analyses (e.g., nemabiome in livestock) to enhance our understanding of parasitic diseases and their management.
  • Supporting further research projects related to vector (arthropod) associated diseases and protozoal research.
  • Contributing to educational activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in veterinary medicine.
  • Providing support to the advisory service and collaborating with the diagnostic parasitology unit of the Institute.

Your Profile

  • A strong commitment to pursuing a research career with a solid background in Veterinary Parasitology.
  • A degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) along with a PhD degree; ideally, holding the title of Diplomate of the European Veterinary Parasitology College (or a comparable qualification).
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experimental experience in parasitology research.
  • Proficiency in the German language (minimum B2 level) is required.
  • Demonstrated scientific writing skills and excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A willingness to collaborate with other units within the Institute and with researchers across various research groups to develop synergistic research initiatives.
