We invite applications for a position in the NorSCAPE Project: Norway Spruce in a Changing Climate: Adaptation, Acclimation, and Physiological Responses for Resilient Forests in Europe, aimed at a duration of two years with the possibility of extension. This project is collaboratively developed with the COST Action CLEANFOREST.
The Norway spruce (Picea abies), a cornerstone of Europe's forests and forestry sector, faces increasing challenges due to climate change. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the NorSCAPE project, which seeks to unravel the physiological mechanisms underlying resilience and vulnerability across its distribution range. In partnership with international collaborators and the dedicated ETH team, your role will focus on researching the adaptation and acclimation potential of spruce. You will employ tree-ring analysis, stable isotope measurements, and provenance trials to inform forest management and policy in the context of global change. This project will be executed in close collaboration with the WSL and the Stable Isotope Research Laboratory in Birmensdorf.
