We are seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team in Transportation and Mobility Planning at the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems. This externally funded project focuses on analyzing ride-sharing, shared e-scooter, and shared bicycle behavior. The goal is to understand the impacts of changes in supply and city dynamics on ridership, including frequency, duration, and location. We will also explore different user segments, such as tourists and residents, and compare their ridership patterns. Our work will involve analyzing existing GPS data and collecting additional data through questionnaires.

• Assist in acquiring new research projects

Profile

Requirements:

• Experience with analyzing GPS tracks
• Strong data-handling skills and proficiency in R (mandatory), and preferably Python and/or GIS
• Knowledge of statistical and causal inference
• A PhD degree in a related field of above-average quality or equivalent research experience
• Able to work collaboratively in a team, with strong problem-solving skills and personal accountability
• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Familiarity with analyzing travel behavior data or urban mobility patterns
• Proficiency in German (at least B2 level)
• Experience in collecting data (e.g., through questionnaires or measurements)
• Experience in developing networks with stakeholders and drafting policy recommendations
