The Department of Nephrology and Hypertension is excited to offer a Postdoctoral Researcher (100%) position within an SNSF-funded research project. This project focuses on investigating the molecular function of the sodium/proton exchanger NHA2 and its implications in human disease.

What You Can Expect

The successful candidate will engage in independent research and play a crucial role in the project's development. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and conducting experimental studies to explore NHA2 function and regulation
  • Utilizing advanced imaging techniques, such as confocal and live-cell microscopy
  • Applying bioinformatics and statistical tools to analyze complex imaging and molecular datasets
  • Preparing and publishing high-impact scientific manuscripts
  • Contributing to project development and grant applications
  • Presenting findings at national and international conferences
  • Participating in the mentorship of Master and PhD students

Your Profile

We are seeking a motivated, creative, and scientifically rigorous researcher with the following qualifications:

  • A PhD or MD-PhD in physiology, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, or a related discipline
  • A strong background in cell biology, membrane transport physiology, or closely related fields
  • Hands-on experience with advanced microscopy techniques and rodent models
  • Prior experience in quantitative data analysis and statistics (e.g., R, Python) is advantageous
  • Familiarity with image analysis tools (ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler, or similar) is beneficial
  • Desirable proficiency in analyzing high-throughput datasets, though not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to contribute effectively to a collaborative research environment
