We are developing lab-on-chip technology (or microfluidic technology) for applications across the life sciences and biomedicine. Our interdisciplinary approach includes the design and manufacturing of miniaturized platforms and their optimization for biochemical assays and analytical procedures.
For a third-party funded project running for four years, we are offering a position for a Postdoctoral Fellow.
The project RadiantDx is a multidisciplinary, collaborative initiative that addresses the diagnosis of sepsis. Sepsis is a severe health condition characterized by nonspecific symptoms like high fever. To assist healthcare professionals in determining the appropriate treatment for patients, we aim to develop a miniaturized system for the rapid diagnosis of sepsis, which will help prevent unnecessary antibiotic administration and lead to improved patient survival and recovery. In collaboration with researchers from the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University of Zurich, the Department of Informatics at ETH Zurich, and several other partners, we are tackling the challenge by combining microfluidic technology, sequencing, and rapid data analysis.
In the Bioanalytics Group, a PhD student and a postdoctoral fellow will work together on various aspects of the microfluidic platform and sample preparation.
The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with a PhD student on the following tasks:
The successful candidate will be embedded within an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment. You will engage with a diverse team of computer scientists, clinicians, and microbiologists, working on impactful research that translates from bench to bedside.
In alignment with our values, ETH Zurich promotes an inclusive culture. We advocate for equality of opportunity, value diversity, and foster a working and learning environment in which the rights and dignity of all staff and students are respected. We are dedicated to sustainability and are actively working toward a climate-neutral future.
