100%, Basel, fixed-term
We are developing innovative lab-on-chip technology (or microfluidic technology) for applications across the life sciences and biomedicine. Our interdisciplinary approach includes the design, manufacturing, and optimization of miniaturized platforms for biochemical assays and analytical procedures.
For a third-party funded project running for four years, we are offering a postdoctoral position.
The project RadiantDx is a multidisciplinary and collaborative initiative focused on the diagnosis of sepsis. Sepsis is a serious health condition characterized by unspecific symptoms, such as high fever. Our goal is to assist healthcare professionals in making informed treatment decisions by developing a miniaturized system for rapid sepsis diagnosis. This innovation aims to reduce unnecessary antibiotic administration and enhance patient survival and recovery rates. Together with researchers from the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University of Zurich, the Department of Informatics at ETHZ, and several other partners, we are addressing this challenge by combining microfluidic technology, sequencing, and rapid data analysis.
In the Bioanalytics Group, the postdoctoral fellow will collaborate closely with a PhD student on various aspects of the microfluidic platform and sample preparation.
The postdoctoral fellow will work alongside a PhD student on the following tasks:
