Postdoctoral Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellowess in Electrochemical Degradation of Water Pollutants

Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) - April 26, 2026

Your Tasks

Your work will focus on investigating the mechanisms of the electrochemical oxidation process (EOP) for the removal of emerging contaminants in water through the generation of hydroxyl radicals.

  • Analyze reaction intermediates and products using a range of analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Utilize advanced characterization methods, including synchrotron-based techniques, to investigate materials under operating conditions and establish design principles for next-generation EOP electrocatalysts.
  • Engage in close collaboration with colleagues within the Electrochemistry Department, the Swiss Light Source, and international partners throughout your postdoctoral research.

Your Profile

  • You hold a PhD in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • You possess a strong background in electrochemistry and water purification through electrochemical oxidation processes.
  • Experience with analytical techniques for water purification analysis is essential.
  • Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques is considered an advantage.
  • You have a strong interest in experimental work and proactively seek to develop new solutions.
  • You can work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team.
  • Excellent communication and scientific writing skills in English are required.
