Postdoctoral Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellowess in Electrochemical Degradation of Water Pollutants

Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) - April 11, 2026

Your Tasks

In this role, you will focus on investigating the mechanisms of the electrochemical oxidation process (EOP) for the removal of emerging contaminants in water through the generation of hydroxyl radicals.

  • Analyze reaction intermediates and products using a variety of analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Employ advanced characterization methods, including synchrotron-based techniques, to investigate materials under operating conditions and establish design principles for next-generation EOP electrocatalysts.
  • Engage closely with colleagues within the Electrochemistry Department, the Swiss Light Source, and international collaborators throughout your postdoc period.

Your Profile

  • You hold a PhD degree in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • You possess a strong background and experience in electrochemistry and water purification through electrochemical oxidation processes.
  • Experience with analytical techniques for water purification analysis is required.
  • Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques is a plus.
  • You have a keen interest in experimental work and demonstrate initiative in developing innovative solutions.
  • You are capable of working independently while effectively contributing to a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team.
  • Excellent communication and scientific writing skills in English are essential.

We Offer
