You will explore coherent orbital excitation as a novel method to investigate and control quantum materials in the time domain. Your responsibilities will include setting up a groundbreaking source of circularly polarized THz pulses in our laser lab and employing it at the Bernina beamline of SwissFEL. By combining ultrafast x-ray diffraction experiments with lab-based studies, you will identify the induced magnetic and structural dynamics and their coupling. Additionally, you will discuss and present scientific results at conferences and publish them in reputable journals within the field.
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in physics or a related field, along with experience in ultrafast spectroscopy, x-ray scattering techniques, or the study of quantum materials. Familiarity with laser systems and THz radiation is advantageous. We also encourage applications from those who are eager to learn and grow in these areas. We value collaborative team members who are open to interdisciplinary work and proactive in sharing and discussing ideas.
Our institution fosters an interdisciplinary, innovative, and dynamic collaboration environment. You will benefit from systematic on-the-job training, along with opportunities for personal development and a strong vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally balance work with family life or other personal interests, we provide modern employment conditions and on-site infrastructure to support you.
Your employment contract is initially limited to two years, with the possibility of extension to three years.
