The Development Economics Group (ETH-DEC) at ETH Zurich is offering a PostDoc position in Development Economics, which consists of 60% dedicated to independent research and 40% focused on research management, including managing, supporting, and contributing to ongoing projects within the group.
The starting date is 1st September 2025. The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.
We conduct empirical development economics research, focusing on global inequalities, financing for development, health and population economics, technologies for poverty reduction, sustainable resource extraction, and evidence-informed policymaking. We are an international team of dedicated economists and data scientists committed to analyzing global inequalities and contributing to solutions for global development. Our group is closely linked to NADEL, a multidisciplinary team that educates future decision-makers in global cooperation and development, and ETH4D, which connects researchers with civil society, NGOs, governments, and the industry to enhance and scale innovations for the global population.

The successful candidate will conduct high-quality independent research that aligns with the group’s objectives. Additionally, they will mentor 1-2 PhD students and support ongoing and future research projects involving data analysis, writing, management, proposal development, and communication. Collaboration with Prof. Isabel Günther is an integral part of this role. While teaching is encouraged, it is not mandatory.
