About Nutreco

Nutreco is a leading global animal nutrition company, dedicated to providing solutions that extend beyond mere nutrition. We partner with our customers to produce feed sustainably, addressing the needs of a growing global population.

In 2021, Nutreco launched the Nutreco Exploration (NutEx) group, focused on developing novel and proprietary ultra-specialty ingredients and fostering the creation of innovative functional feeds. NutEx engages in two key programs: phytotechnology and microtechnology to explore new ideas and transform them into exclusive ingredients.

Phytotechnology Program

As part of the phytotechnology program, Nutreco established the Competence Center for Medicinal Plant Solutions (Nutreco Garden of the Future, or NuGaFu). Nestled in Switzerland’s phytovalley near the Austrian and German borders, the Center boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities for developing PhytoComplexes used in the feed industry. This includes:

  • Bioactivity modeling facilities
  • Phytochemistry laboratory
  • In vitro propagation laboratory
  • Plant breeding greenhouse
  • Medicinal plant exhibition garden
  • Experimental field station for plant domestication work

The Center leverages an existing, global network of specialty plant growers to enhance its capabilities.
