Main Duties

As a dedicated educator, you will:

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Become an integral member of our Science Department.
  • Engage with the boarding life, fostering a supportive environment.
  • Continuously seek to develop your own professional practice and growth.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Manage resources within the department, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administration as necessary and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as needed.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • A strong commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for their subject and the ability to inspire others.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, with a readiness to experiment with new practices.
  • The ability to act as a supervisor for learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with English as a mother tongue.
  • A shared educational vision with La Garenne International School, encompassing our holistic approach to education while contributing to co-curricular and pastoral aspects of school life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable effective relationship-building and collaboration with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Strong ICT competence, coupled with a willingness to embrace new technologies.
