What You'll Be Doing

  • As a doctoral candidate in the ALDEX project, a collaboration between ETH Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (ZHAW), you will conduct research under the supervision of esteemed faculty from both BFH and ETH Zurich.
  • Your dissertation will focus on developing a hybrid product base that combines microalgae and milk protein to create a new range of food structures and functionalities.
  • Emphasis will be placed on understanding the interactions between phases, phenomena at interfaces, and strategies for compatibilization and structuring of multiple phases.
  • You may also contribute to teaching through lectures or practical courses, sharing your knowledge with students.

What You'll Bring

  • An excellent master’s degree in food science, materials science, food process engineering, or a related discipline.
  • The ability to quickly adapt to new knowledge areas, demonstrating fast comprehension and a steep learning curve.
  • A passion for research, self-motivation, and a strong aptitude for abstract and creative thinking to address challenging questions.
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity, and the capability to devise innovative solutions.
  • An open-minded, independent, structured, and reliable working style.
  • Very good English language skills, ideally complemented by good command of German.
