What You'll Be Doing

• You will be a doctoral candidate in the ALDEX project, a collaborative SNF-BRIDGE project with ETH Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (ZHAW). Your dissertation will receive direct supervision from BFH (Prof. Dr. Christoph Denkel's team) and ETH Zurich (Prof. Dr. Alexander Mathys's team).
• Your research will focus on developing a hybrid product base made from microalgae and milk protein, aiming to create innovative food structures and functionalities.
• Special attention will be given to exploring phase interactions, interface interactions, and strategies for compatibilization and structuring multiple phases.
• You may occasionally assist in teaching through lectures or practical workshops.

What You'll Bring

• An excellent master's degree in food science, materials science, food process engineering, or a related field.
• The ability to quickly adapt to new knowledge areas, with strong comprehension skills and a steep learning curve.
• A passion for research, high self-motivation, and the capacity to think abstractly and creatively when tackling complex research challenges.
• Strong analytical thinking abilities and creativity conducive to developing innovative solutions.
• A structured, independent, and reliable working style complemented by open-mindedness.
• Outstanding proficiency in English, ideally supplemented with good German skills.
