What You'll Be Doing Here
You will serve as a doctoral candidate in the ALDEX project, a collaborative initiative involving ETH Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (ZHAW). Your dissertation will be closely supervised by teams from BFH (Prof. Dr. Christoph Denkel) and ETH Zurich (Prof. Dr. Alexander Mathys).
Your research will focus on developing a hybrid product base that combines microalgae and milk protein, aiming to create novel food structures and functionalities.
Special attention will be given to understanding the interactions between phases, the behavior at interfaces, and strategies for compatibilization and structuring of multiple phases.
Additionally, you may support teaching through lectures or practical courses as needed.

An excellent master's degree in food science, materials science, food process engineering, or a related field.
A quick adaptability to new knowledge areas, alongside strong comprehension and a steep learning curve.
A passion for your work, a high level of self-motivation, and the ability to think abstractly and creatively to address challenging research questions.
Strong analytical thinking and creativity, enabling the development of innovative solutions.
An open-minded, independent, structured, and reliable approach to work.
Fluency in English, with good proficiency in German being a plus.
