PhD Student in Operando Microfluidic Reactors / PhD Studentess in Operando Microfluidic Reactors

Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) - February 19, 2026

Your Tasks

  • Design microfluidic reactors for operando studies of photocatalysts, including hydrogen evolution reactions (HER), hydrogenation reactions, and decomposition of organic pollutants.
  • Perform experiments in PSI laboratories and at synchrotron radiation facilities, including data processing and analysis.
  • Optimize and automate reaction parameters, correlating structural data with materials' catalytic performance.

Your Profile

  • You hold a master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • You are capable of undertaking both experimental and theoretical work, actively seeking new solutions and working independently.
  • You possess a background in heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, or microfluidics.
  • You understand the principles behind various spectroscopic techniques.
  • You have experience in scientific programming using Python for data analysis.
  • You can easily integrate into an interdisciplinary research team and possess excellent communication skills.
