PhD Student in operando microfluidic reactors / PhD Studentess in operando microfluidic reactors

Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) - January 8, 2026

Your Tasks

  • Design microfluidic reactors for operando studies of photocatalysts, including hydrogen evolution reactions (HER), hydrogenation reactions, and the decomposition of organic pollutants.
  • Conduct experiments in PSI laboratories and at synchrotron radiation facilities, along with data processing and analysis.
  • Optimize and automate reaction parameters, correlating structural data with the materials' catalytic performance.

Your Profile

  • You hold a master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • You are capable of performing both experimental and theoretical work, seeking innovative solutions while working independently.
  • You have a background in heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, or microfluidics.
  • You comprehend the principles behind various spectroscopic techniques.
  • You possess experience in scientific programming using Python for data analysis.
  • You can easily integrate into an interdisciplinary research team and have excellent communication skills.
