PhD Project Opportunity in Nonlinear Optics
A PhD project is now available in the Nonlinear Optics group at the Institute of Applied Science, University of Bern.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original research within the project.
- Prepare, perform, and analyze laser-based experiments along with related simulations and data analysis.
- Develop and optimize advanced ultrafast spectroscopic setups.
- Interpret results within the context of condensed-matter physics and materials science.
- Write reports and publications, present talks and posters at international conferences.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners and contribute to day-to-day lab activities.
Requirements
- Master's degree in physics or a closely related field.
- Background or interest in experimental condensed matter and/or optics.
- Experience with nonlinear optics and/or optical spectroscopy is preferred but not essential.
- Motivation to work with ultrafast lasers and readiness to participate in experiments at large-scale facilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
