Your Responsibilities

  • Acquire and deepen knowledge in the theory and methods of linguistic evolution, particularly using probabilistic programming languages such as Stan to develop explicit quantitative models.
  • Lead the development of at least three publishable papers in collaboration with supervisors and other researchers.
  • Submit a dissertation that integrates these papers along with a review of the state of the art.
  • Actively participate in lab meetings, NCCR events, and journal clubs.

Your Profile

  • Training in historical and typological linguistics with a fundamental understanding of statistics and data wrangling.
  • Familiarity with Bayesian approaches and/or phylogenetic comparative methods is considered an additional asset.
  • A strong interest in related fields, particularly neurolinguistics and human population genetics.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
