Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Acquire and deepen your knowledge in the theory and methods of linguistic evolution, particularly by using probabilistic programming languages such as Stan to develop explicit quantitative models.
- Lead the development of at least three publishable papers in collaboration with supervisors and other partners.
- Submit a dissertation that integrates these papers along with a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art.
- Actively participate in lab meetings, NCCR events, and journal clubs.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A background in historical and typological linguistics.
- Familiarity with the basics of statistics and data wrangling.
- Knowledge of Bayesian approaches and/or phylogenetic comparative methods as additional assets.
- A strong interest in related fields, particularly neurolinguistics and human population genetics.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
