Your Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct your own PhD project in the field of comparative political institutions, broadly defined. Candidates should focus on parliaments, parties, legislative behavior, representation, European politics, or European integration.
- Participate in the Department's doctoral program, which offers advanced methodological and substantive training as well as professional development.
- Teach your own courses and/or co-teach with Prof. Slapin or other members of the IPZ.
- Contribute to the intellectual life at the IPZ and the Chair of Comparative Political Institutions and European Politics.
Your Profile
Qualifications
- Excellent MA degree in political science or a closely related discipline.
- Substantive interest in democratic political institutions, democratic governance, representation, parties, parliaments, legislative behavior, European integration, or related substantive and methodological topics.
- Strong background in quantitative methods with a desire to further develop methodological skills. Areas of expertise may include (but are not limited to) econometrics, causal inference, survey methods and design, computational social science, and experimental methods.
- Motivation to pursue an academic career.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Language Requirements
- Excellent English proficiency.
- Preference for the ability to speak and teach in German, though it is not required.
