Your Responsibilities
This PhD project is part of Work Package 1 of the ENDOtrain network and focuses on investigating how endocrine rhythms are influenced in patients with obesity and hypertension, utilizing real-world, continuous data streams. The tasks associated with this PhD position include:
- Establishing the data collection and monitoring infrastructure using open-source tools, with support from IT specialists.
- Planning and executing specific wearable sensing studies aligned with the general goals of ENDOTRAIN, while assisting collaborators in establishing similar studies.
- Collecting contextual and patient-reported outcome data (e.g., through structured surveys or spoken/written free text).
- Developing and validating diagnostic and predictive algorithms using classical statistics and machine learning techniques.
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who possesses:
- A quantitative Master's degree (MSc or equivalent) in Statistics, Machine Learning, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- A strong interest in translational endocrinology and digital health technologies.
- A willingness to interact with diverse stakeholders (patients, clinicians).
- Some experience in information and data management (knowledge of information storage systems/databases is an asset).
- Excellent programming or data science skills (e.g., R, Python) and an interest in wearable data analysis, particularly in time series analysis and machine learning methods for prediction.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong communication skills in English (knowledge of German is a plus) and the ability to collaborate interdisciplinary.
