The Computational Mechanics Group in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich is seeking a doctoral student for an exciting opportunity. This position is funded by the SOFRA(CT) project, which focuses on investigating the failure of elastomers using the phase-field approach to fracture.
The main objective of the PhD project is to develop cutting-edge models for the fracture behavior of polymeric rubbers, grounded in experimental evidence. The selected PhD student will collaborate closely with a team led by Dr. P. Carrara, taking charge of developing innovative models to replicate and predict the experimental results obtained by another PhD candidate. The models will be explored both numerically, utilizing HPC libraries, and theoretically.
