We are excited to announce a fully funded PhD position at the Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation (SMI), ETH Zurich. This position is associated with the SNSF-funded research project focusing on the role of artificial intelligence in strategy. The project investigates how AI can transform and support strategic processes in organizations.

Job Description

The Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation offers an inspiring, team-based research environment with a dynamic and international group of researchers. Our team has a proven track record of publishing in leading journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Harvard Business Review.

As a PhD candidate, you are expected to produce a dissertation project that typically consists of at least three high-quality papers intended for top-tier journals. The position provides close supervision and collaboration with leading faculty and senior researchers, while also granting access to ETH Zurich's excellent research infrastructure and a robust international network of collaborators.

Profile

Inclusion Criteria: Applications not meeting these criteria cannot be considered.

• Master's degree in Management or a related discipline (e.g., Management Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Economics with a management focus)
• Graduation not older than two years at the time of application
• Proficiency in German (spoken and written)
• Proven track record of strong academic performance
• Outstanding performance in the Master's thesis or a comparable demonstration of research potential
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams

Additional Qualifications Considered an Advantage:

• Knowledge or practical experience with AI, particularly in business or organizational contexts
• Previous consulting or industry experience in strategy or management
