Your Responsibilities

The positions will be filled for a duration of 3 years, with the possibility of a 1-year renewal based on Ph.D. progress, research productivity, teaching quality, and commitment to chair and departmental activities. The tasks will include:

  • Writing a Ph.D. dissertation based on the candidate's own research interests in the broad area of comparative politics.
  • Teaching undergraduate seminars or introductory courses in English or German (approximately 2 hours weekly over 2 semesters of 14 weeks), advising students, preparing and marking examinations, and handling occasional administrative tasks.
  • Participation in departmental activities and the doctoral program.
  • Engagement in summer schools, scholarly conferences, and scientific networks.

Your Profile

The successful candidates will be involved in both research and teaching in the area of comparative politics. They are expected to:

  • Pursue their own research interests.
  • Participate in international conferences.
  • Produce outstanding scholarship with publications in top journals and presses.

Candidates must possess comprehensive theoretical knowledge of comparative politics, solid training in quantitative methods and statistical packages (such as Stata and R), international experience, and the ability and motivation to work as part of a team while conducting independent research. Fluency in English and/or German is essential.
