We invite you to join our Thermal Integration department within our gas turbine business in Baden (AG) and contribute to the advancement of our innovative products.

Performance & Operation Engineer R&D

The Thermal Integration team is responsible for designing the gas turbine thermodynamic cycle and its secondary air system. This role involves managing interfaces with various components such as compressors, combustors, turbines, and structural parts, while ensuring optimal performance across all operational conditions.

Your Tasks

  • Develop engine operating concepts and operational modes to meet power, efficiency, emissions, and lifetime requirements in close collaboration with component teams to enhance the competitiveness and flexibility of our gas turbines.
  • Create performance datasets for design and guarantee purposes, supporting our tendering team on specific project requests.
  • Maintain and further develop our in-house cycle performance toolset.
  • Support project engineering by generating project-specific design data and specifications.
  • Specify engine tests and assist in their execution.
  • Evaluate field and test engine measurements to analyze and validate gas turbine performance and operational behavior.
  • Provide support for on-site engine adjustments.

Your Profile

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • University specialization and/or industrial experience in aero-thermal design and engineering of turbomachinery or closely related areas.
  • Experience in gas turbine engineering, performance calculations, and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of gas turbine and combined cycle power plant thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of programming languages would be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and confident team player with excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites occasionally (approximately 10% of the time, globally).
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is advantageous, with additional knowledge of Italian being a plus.
