Ministry Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated minister to join our team, focusing on enhancing our resources and strengthening our community through outreach and pastoral care. Eligibility

This call is open to Church of Scotland ministers and other ministers in the Reformed tradition who are affiliated with a member church of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. A certificate of eligibility must be obtained from the Church of Scotland for ministers outside of the Church of Scotland. Further information regarding this process can be provided upon request.

Role Overview

The minister will serve both the Lausanne and Geneva Congregations, which are in deferred linkage. You will engage in various duties that are distinctive aspects of serving in this position, including:

  • The celebration of the Sacraments - the Lord’s Supper (or Holy Communion) and Baptism;
  • Preaching and conducting worship services;
  • Moderating meetings of the Kirk Session to guide discussions on spiritual issues;
  • Conducting funerals and providing pastoral support to those who are dying and to bereaved individuals;
  • Conducting weddings and assisting couples in preparing for marriage;
  • Offering ministry and pastoral care that is accessible to all, regardless of church membership;
  • Providing local leadership and collaborating with others;
  • Engaging in ministry service relevant to the wider community;
  • Committing to full-time hours of service throughout the week;
  • Reporting any absence from duties due to illness or other reasons, and submitting medical Fit Notes as required;
  • Taking annual time off for rest and personal well-being as permitted by Pulpit Supply arrangements;
  • Exhibiting integrity of faith and life, with Christ-like values and attitudes.

Wider Responsibilities

While the primary role is to serve within the Charge or Appointment, the minister is also expected to serve within the Presbytery, which may include membership on Presbytery committees and serving as Interim Moderators. Additional responsibilities may involve serving on a committee of the General Assembly. These duties contribute to the overall functions of those ordained to serve in the Office of Minister of Word and Sacrament within the Church of Scotland.

Qualifications

A degree in Divinity or Theology is required for this position.
