Job Title: Part-Time Visual Arts Technician

Reporting to: Head of Art

Job Purpose

We are currently seeking a dedicated and organized Visual Arts Technician to join our vibrant and innovative department. This exciting role offers the chance to be part of a forward-thinking team that promotes artistic expression throughout the school, including providing essential support for GCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) students.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in visual arts, design, or a related technical field, coupled with strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. A proactive and flexible approach, along with a willingness to collaborate with students and staff, is essential. Familiarity with, or a readiness to learn about, the requirements of the GCSE and IB Visual Arts curriculum is also desired.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Visual Arts Technician, your role will encompass the following:

  • In-Class Support: Assisting students and teachers during lessons by facilitating project work, demonstrations, and technical processes across all year levels.
  • Whole School Display: Coordinating the mounting, curating, and rotation of student artwork throughout the school campus.
  • Specialist Studio Maintenance:
    • Overseeing the ceramics studio, including kiln maintenance, clay recycling, and glaze preparation.
    • Managing the photography space, which includes maintenance of darkroom equipment and digital photography resources.
    • Supporting the woodwork area with tool maintenance and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Materials and Resource Management: Ordering, preparing, and organizing materials for lessons and student projects while ensuring that storage areas remain tidy, safe, and well-stocked.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Undertake any other tasks reasonably requested by the Head of Art to assist in the smooth operation of the team.
  • Embrace and uphold the School’s Guiding Principles and the ethos of Aiglon College at all times.
