Job Title: Part-Time Visual Arts Technician

Reporting to: Head of Art

Job Purpose

Aiglon College is an esteemed international boarding school situated in the Swiss Alps, renowned for delivering a challenging, holistic education in a safe, nurturing environment. With CIS accreditation, the school serves over 480 students aged 7-18 from more than 70 nations.

We are seeking a passionate and organized Visual Arts Technician to join our dynamic and innovative department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to fostering artistic expression throughout the school, particularly in supporting GCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) students at the exam level.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in visual arts, design, or related technical/artistic fields. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential. A proactive and flexible approach, along with a willingness to collaborate with both students and staff, is crucial. An understanding of, or an eagerness to learn about, the GCSE and IB Visual Arts curriculum is also required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

As the Visual Arts Technician, your role will encompass the following:

  • In-Class Support: Assisting students and teachers during lessons by facilitating project work, demonstrations, and technical processes across all year levels.
  • Whole School Display: Coordinating the mounting, curating, and rotation of student artwork across the school campus.
  • Specialist Studio Maintenance:
    • Overseeing the ceramics studio, including maintaining kilns, clay recycling, and glaze preparation.
    • Managing the photography space, covering darkroom equipment and digital photography resources.
    • Supporting the woodwork area with tool maintenance and health & safety compliance.
  • Materials and Resource Management: Ordering, preparing, and organizing materials for lessons and student projects, ensuring that storage areas are tidy, safe, and well-stocked.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understanding and implementing all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Undertaking any other tasks reasonably requested by the Head of Art to assist in the smooth operation of the team.
  • Upholding the ethos of the School and consistently adhering to the School’s Guiding Principles.
