Job Purpose

Aiglon College is an esteemed international boarding school nestled in the picturesque Swiss Alps, known for its commitment to providing a challenging and transformative holistic education. Our institution fosters an inspiring environment within a safe, caring, and supportive framework. Accredited by CIS, Aiglon caters to 450 students aged 7-18 from 70 different nations. While students in their final years prepare for Cambridge IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme, our distinct learning philosophy is instilled from the very first years. The Junior School, dedicated to students in Years 3-8, functions as a vital segment of the overall school community.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant for the Junior School, starting in August 2025. This role will primarily support students in Years 3-6. Prior experience in an international school setting will be considered a significant advantage. The position is expected to require support for approximately 20 to 30 hours per week and is term-time only.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support for Students:
    • Assist teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, providing specialist skills as necessary.
    • Support individual students or small groups, particularly those with EAL or additional learning needs.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils and groups.
    • Contribute to Individual Education Plans as appropriate.
    • Help pupils during learning activities.
    • Encourage pupils’ social and emotional development.
    • Contribute to the health and well-being of students.
    • Provide support for bilingual/multilingual students when relevant.
    • Assist children with specific needs, including sensory and/or physical impairments, cognitive challenges, and emotional or social difficulties.
    • Support Gifted and Talented pupils.
    • Enhance pupils' literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Facilitate pupil access to the curriculum.
    • Address personal care needs of children as guided by school policies.
  • Support for Teacher(s):
    • Observe and report on pupil performance.
    • Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities.
    • Help prepare and maintain a conducive learning environment.
    • Contribute to the management of pupil behavior.
    • Maintain accurate records of pupils’ progress.
    • Ensure pupils’ safety and security.
    • Supervise the class temporarily in emergencies.
    • Perform routine marking as per school policy.
    • Provide administrative support including producing worksheets and invigilating examinations.
  • Support for the School:
    • Contribute to fostering teamwork within the school environment.
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other professionals.
    • Liaise with parents as needed.
    • Engage in self-review and development of professional practice.
  • Support for the Curriculum:
    • Facilitate the use of technology in the classroom.
    • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people under your care.
    • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety protocols in all tasks.
    • Participate in suitable professional development and performance management.
    • Embody the ethos of Aiglon and promote the school's vision and objectives while exemplifying personal integrity and professionalism.
    • Attend relevant staff meetings and parent/open evenings.
    • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the Junior School.
