Aiglon Collège Services S.A. - September 25, 2025

Job Title: Teacher of Music (Bass Guitar)

Reporting to: Head of Music

Job Purpose

Aiglon College is an esteemed international boarding school located in the breathtaking Swiss Alps. Renowned for providing a challenging holistic education, we create an inspiring environment within a safe, caring, and supportive framework. Accredited by CIS, Aiglon serves 480 students aged 7-18 from 70 nations, guiding them through IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme.

Music is a cornerstone of our curriculum, taught as a compulsory subject from Year 5 to Year 9. In our Junior School, students receive a 50-minute music lesson weekly from Years 5 to 8. Year 9 students continue with a mixed ability lesson of the same duration. Beyond Year 9, students may opt to pursue music studies in Years 10 and 11, culminating in the AQA GCSE examination.

All GCSE students benefit from individual instrumental lessons to fulfill performance requirements. In recent years, the number of students choosing music as a GCSE subject has grown significantly. Our IB music graduates often go on to pursue further musical education at prestigious institutions including Berklee College of Music, Tisch, NYU, Royal Holloway, and Edinburgh. Currently, 171 students participate in nearly 300 weekly lessons, with half-hour sessions typically offered, extending to hour-long lessons for those meeting specific proficiency standards.

Music Department Overview

Aiglon's music department boasts a team of 10 peripatetic music teachers who provide a diverse array of instrumental lessons each week, covering traditional orchestral instruments, piano, keyboard, guitar, drums, voice, and bagpipes. Recent enhancements to our department include lessons on audio recording, studio production, and DJ-ing. Our collection now includes four Swiss alphorns, integrated into our teaching programs.

We emphasize a rich extra-curricular music provision that nurtures creativity and performance. Our ensembles include the Aiglon Senior Choir, chamber choirs, staff choir, various rock bands, orchestral groups, and a percussion ensemble. Additionally, we tailor ensembles on a termly basis to accommodate student needs, particularly for GCSE and IB performances. Every Tuesday morning, the music department features a live student performance during Aiglon Assembly, showcasing a range from solo pianists to chamber string groups and vocal ensembles. The entire Junior School engages in singing rehearsals every Thursday morning, preparing for concerts and services.

Our music department also collaborates closely with the Drama Department, producing notable productions such as Cabaret and Guys and Dolls. Our program is enriched by regular whole-school musical events, including termly Junior School Concerts, an annual Carol Service, Senior School concerts, the Aiglon House Shout, and Aiglon Rocks.
