The Professorship for History of the Modern World focuses on the historical analysis of various forms of global interdependencies that have increasingly shaped the world since the 18th century. This role examines the implications of (post)colonial transnational relationships in the development of Europe, North America, and the Global South. A particular interest lies in the role of scientific experts, disciplines, institutions, and transcultural knowledge within colonial and postcolonial contexts. Our work combines the history of globalization with expertise in diverse extra-European regions.
