Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based best practice care for a private individual. The role focuses on addressing the diverse needs of the client in a positive, person-centred manner. Currently, the client has a diagnosis of dementia, suffers from age-related frailties, and may present with additional health co-morbidities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, develop, and implement care programs; provide advice and maintain associated records either manually or digitally.
  • Carry out nursing procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines.
  • Provide clinical supervision to other staff.
  • Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to promote best practices in dementia care.
  • Cover leadership duties in the absence of the team leader to ensure the effective delivery of care to the client.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements

  • Swiss or EU passport (or Swiss working permit holder).
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
  • Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Completion or progress towards Best Practice in Dementia Training.
  • Willingness to undertake specific dementia training in English.
  • Additional qualifications related to dementia, including stress and distress training, meaningful activity, Sage and Thyme.
  • Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in dementia knowledge.
  • Specialist dementia qualification or additional studies in related areas.
  • Familiarity with behaviour as communication and knowledge of non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals with dementia.

Qualifications / Additional Requirements

  • Training in Moving and Handling.
  • Background in Beauty/Massage Therapy.
  • Experience in meaningful activity facilitation.

Language / Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; ideally as a mother tongue.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.

  • Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Female gender is required for this position.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Ability to commit to working a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
  • Willingness to travel with the client in the UK.
  • Availability for unsociable hours, including sleepover arrangements, alternating nights with another staff member.
  • May involve accompanying the client to and from various venues as part of duties.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to the client’s social standing.
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with NMC requirements and organisational policies; a confidentiality agreement will be provided separately.
  • Understanding of the client and family’s culture to effectively manage care as dementia progresses.
  • Housekeeping tasks are also part of this position.
