Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based best practice care for a private individual. The role focuses on addressing all needs in a positive, person-centered manner. The individual's current requirements include a diagnosis of dementia, age-related frailties, and any other health co-morbidities that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement care programs; provide advisory support; and maintain associated records, either manually or digitally.
- Execute nursing procedures as required, aligning with clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to promote best practices in the care of a client with dementia, ensuring effective service delivery in the absence of the team leader.
- Raise any issues directly with the line manager as necessary.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or holder of a Swiss work permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent qualifications.
- Completion of Best Practice in Dementia Training or the willingness to undertake this training.
- Openness to participate in specific dementia training, such as Best Practice in Dementia Care, delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications related to dementia topics, including stress and distress training, meaningful activity, and Sage and Thyme.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behavior assessment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in dementia knowledge, either independently or through organizational resources.
- Experience in End of Life Care and the ability to develop relevant clinical skills for addressing any emerging co-morbidities.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Certification as a Moving and Handling Trainer.
- Expertise in Beauty or Massage Therapy.
- Experience in facilitating meaningful activity.
Language / Essential Skills
- Effective communication skills in English, ideally as a first language. Knowledge of the local dialect from Central Scotland is preferred.
- Strong written communication skills in English.
- Understanding the challenges posed by dementia on communication and the resulting implications on quality of life, as poor communication can lead to increased stress and distressed behavior.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years' experience working with individuals with dementia is required.

- Capacity to collaborate effectively with others as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent time management skills.

Specific Job Requirements
- Willingness to commit to a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days), including traveling with the client within the UK.
- Availability for unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement alternating nights with another staff member.
- Potentially accompanying the client to various venues as part of the duties.
- Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to the client's social standing.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with NMC requirements and organizational policies. A confidentiality agreement will be provided separately.
- Understanding of the client's cultural context is essential, as a lack of awareness may increase stress and distress, leading to unnecessary pharmacological interventions.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are also a fundamental aspect of this position.
