Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based best practice care to an individual requiring person-centred support. The role focuses on addressing a range of needs, including dementia diagnosis, age-related frailties, and other health co-morbidities that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement individualized care programs; provide advice and maintain associated records, either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Offer clinical supervision to junior staff.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other team members to promote best practices in dementia care.
- Provide coverage for the team leader to ensure uninterrupted care delivery.
- Communicate any concerns to the line manager promptly.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Possession of a Swiss or EU passport, or a holder of a valid Swiss work permit.
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or comparable qualification.
- Completion or willingness to undertake Best Practice in Dementia Training.
- A strong desire to develop expertise in dementia care as part of continuous professional development (CPD).
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Specialist dementia qualifications or additional studies in related fields.
- Knowledge of behaviour as communication and familiarity with non-pharmacological interventions.
- Experience in end-of-life care and developing clinical skills to address co-morbidities.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Moving and Handling Trainer certification.
- Qualifications in Beauty and Massage Therapy.
- Experience in facilitating meaningful activities.
Language Skills / Essential
- Proficient in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with local dialects specific to the Central Scotland region.
- Understanding the impact of language on individuals with dementia to enhance their quality of life.
Experience
A minimum of five years of experience working with individuals with dementia is required.
Personal Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently.
- Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management abilities.
- Basic technological proficiency.
- Teaching skills for mentoring junior staff and collaborating with families and professionals.
- Female candidates are preferred for this role.
Specific Job Requirements
- Commitment to a shift pattern based between Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Availability for unsociable hours, including sleepover arrangements alternating with another staff member.
- Travel with the client as required.
- Ability to conduct oneself appropriately within the client's social standing.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with NMC standards and organizational policies; a confidentiality agreement will be provided.
- Sensitivity to the cultural context of the client and family as dementia progresses.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are also integral to this role.
