Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver holistic, evidence-based care to a private individual, tailored to her needs in a positive, person-centered manner. These needs currently include a diagnosis of dementia, age-related frailties, and other potential health co-morbidities.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will be required to:
- Assess, plan, develop and implement individual care programs; provide advice and maintain associated records either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures as needed, in accordance with established clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
The post-holder will direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to promote best practices in caring for clients with dementia. In the absence of the team leader, this role will ensure the effective delivery of care to the client, and any issues should be reported to the line manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Swiss or EU passport holder (or Swiss working permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or equivalent from Europe/Switzerland.
- Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
- Completion or progress towards Best Practice in Dementia Training.
- Willingness to undergo specific dementia training, delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications related to dementia, including stress management, meaningful activity, Sage and Thyme training.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME behavior assessment model.
- Commitment to ongoing dementia knowledge development as part of CPD.
- Specialist dementia qualification or additional relevant studies.
- Knowledge of non-pharmacological interventions and strategies to understand behavior as communication.
- Experience in End of Life Care and development of clinical skills to address any emerging co-morbidities.
Additional Qualifications
- Moving and Handling Trainer.
- Experience in Beauty or Massage Therapy.
- Skills in providing Meaningful Activities.
Essential Language Skills
- Effective communication skills in English, ideally as a first language.
- Proficient written communication in English.
- Understanding that the nature of dementia affects language capabilities, which can impact the quality of life for the client.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience working with individuals with dementia is required.

Specific Job Requirements
- Ability to commit to a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Flexibility to accommodate unsociable hours, including sleepover arrangements, alternating nights with other staff.
- Possibility of accompanying the client to various venues as part of the role.
- Professional conduct appropriate to the client's social standing.
- Maintenance of confidentiality in line with NMC requirements and organizational standards; a confidentiality agreement will be provided.
- Understanding the cultural background of the client and family, as increased stress and distress may result from a lack of awareness as dementia progresses.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are also a key aspect of this position.
