Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based care to a private individual, focusing on her needs in a positive, person-centered manner. The individual has a diagnosis of dementia and age-related frailties, along with any other health co-morbidities that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement care programs; provide advice; maintain associated records either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures as required in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to ensure best practices in dementia care.
- In the absence of the team leader, cover to ensure effective care delivery to the client.
- Raise any issues with the line manager as needed.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or holder of a Swiss working permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Completion of Best Practice in Dementia Training or willingness to undertake this.
- Willingness to undergo specific dementia training delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications in dementia-related topics, including stress and distress training, meaningful activity, and Sage and Thyme.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) regarding dementia knowledge.
- Specialist dementia qualification or additional studies in relevant areas.
- Understanding of behaviour as communication and a strong knowledge of non-pharmacological interventions.
- Experience in End of Life Care and the development of relevant clinical skills for co-morbidities and end-of-life situations.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Training in Moving and Handling.
- Beauty/Massage Therapy qualifications.
- Experience in promoting meaningful activity.
Language Requirements
- Effective communication in English; ideally, English should be the first language and familiarity with the local dialect of Central Scotland is a plus.
- Excellent written communication skills in English.
- Awareness of the impact that communication difficulties caused by dementia can have on improving the quality of life for the client.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals with dementia is required.

Specific Job Requirements
- A commitment to working a shift pattern in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Willingness to travel with the client within the UK.
- Availability for unsociable hours, including sleepover arrangements alternating nights with another staff member.
- Possibility of accompanying the client to various venues as part of the role.
- Able to present oneself appropriately in alignment with the client's social standing.
- Strict confidentiality must be maintained in accordance with NMC requirements and organizational expectations; a confidentiality agreement will be provided.
- Understanding of the client’s culture and family dynamics to reduce stress and prevent unnecessary pharmacological interventions.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are also a key aspect of this position.
