Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based best practice care to a private individual with dementia and age-related frailties, as well as any additional health co-morbidities that may arise. The care will be delivered in a positive, person-centred manner, ensuring that all needs are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement comprehensive care programs, while maintaining associated records either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to promote best practices in the care of the client with dementia.
- Fill in for the team leader as necessary to ensure effective delivery of care, addressing any issues with the line manager.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or valid Swiss working permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Completion of Best Practice in Dementia Training or willingness to work towards it.
- Willingness to undertake specific dementia training delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications in dementia-related topics, such as stress and distress training, meaningful activity, and Sage and Thyme.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in dementia care.
- Specialist dementia qualification or additional studies in related areas.
- Knowledge of behaviour as communication and effective non-pharmacological interventions.
- Experience in end-of-life care and developing relevant clinical skills.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Movement and Handling Trainer.
- Beauty/Massage Therapy qualifications.
- Experience with meaningful activities.
Language / Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, ideally as a first language.
- Excellent written communication skills in English.
- Understanding of the local dialect spoken in Central Scotland is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals diagnosed with dementia is required.

- Female candidates are preferred for this position.
Specific Job Requirements
- Commitment to working a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Willingness to travel with the client in the UK.
- Availability for unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement, alternating nights with another staff member during shifts.
- Ability to accompany the client to various venues as required.
- Professional conduct appropriate to the client's social standing.
- Strict confidentiality is required, in compliance with NMC standards and organizational policies; a confidentiality agreement will be provided separately.
- Awareness and understanding of the local culture, particularly as dementia progresses, to minimize stress and distress for the client.
- Housekeeping duties are also a key responsibility of this role.
