Job Opportunity: New Builds Senior Fleet Manager
We are a well-established company operating in the Commodity Trading and Shipping industry based in Geneva, Switzerland. We are currently seeking a highly qualified New Builds Senior Fleet Manager to join our team. This position requires frequent travel and a strong background in technical and marine superintendent roles.
Position Purpose
The New Builds Senior Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of new vessel construction projects while ensuring their successful integration into the operational fleet. This role serves as a critical link between shipyard activities, design and engineering teams, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational readiness, ensuring that new builds align with company standards, budgets, and timelines.

This position plays a vital role in managing new vessel builds, ensuring compliance with necessary standards and facilitating a seamless integration into the operational fleet.
Responsibilities
- Project Oversight & Coordination:
- Lead the end-to-end management of new vessel builds, from concept contractualization to delivery and fleet integration.
- Act as the primary liaison between shipyards, design offices, classification societies, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor construction progress, budgets, and quality control to ensure contractual compliance.
- Fleet Integration and Readiness:
- Develop and execute fleet integration plans for newly constructed vessels.
- Ensure operational readiness, including crewing, technical documentation, training, and spare parts planning.
- Prepare annual budget proposals for management.
- Coordinate with technical and commercial departments to ensure a seamless entry into service.
- Asset Management & Lifecycle Planning:
- Align new builds with the company’s long-term asset strategy, focusing on performance, sustainability, and return on investment.
- Incorporate lifecycle cost analysis and maintainability into design and build considerations.
- Support the development of asset management plans, covering maintenance, upgrades, and eventual disposal of newly commissioned vessels.
- Collaborate with asset performance, finance, and operations teams to track the health and value of assets over time.
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure new builds and existing fleet comply with applicable regulatory, environmental, and safety standards (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.).
- Stay updated on technological trends and sustainability practices affecting new build projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Identify, analyze, engage, and influence stakeholders involved in or affected by the projects to ensure alignment and mitigate risks.
- Consultancy to Group Activities:
- Assist with ship sales and purchases, conversions for offshore projects, terminal inspections, evaluations, and liaising with third-party service providers.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree (Foreign going) unlimited in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in shipbuilding and fleet management of Oil and Gas tankers, along with marine and offshore project management.
- Both sea and shore-based experience are required.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated success in managing new build programs and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of marine regulations, classification standards, and technical requirements.
- Solid understanding of capital asset planning, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and condition-based maintenance strategies.
- Experience with digital twin technologies, sustainability initiatives, and smart ship systems.
- Familiarity with ESG compliance and green ship design initiatives.
- Proven ability to work with international shipyards and suppliers.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
