MOVPE Expert / MOVPE Expertess

ETH Zürich - June 7, 2025

FIRST - Center for Micro- and Nanoscience

FIRST is an interdepartmental cleanroom facility supported directly by ETH Zürich. This technology platform serves the scientific community at ETH Zürich and stands for Frontiers in Research: Space and Time. It caters to a multidisciplinary spectrum of departments within ETH, as well as industry, by advancing research and development in a wide range of micro- and nanotechnologies.

Historically, new discoveries in science have emerged by pushing boundaries—whether it be shorter time scales, lower temperatures, greater intensities, higher energies, smaller distances, or cleaner materials. The influence of technology on scientific breakthroughs is well documented. FIRST-Lab is designed to provide a common technology and fabrication facility to support research at these frontiers. As a university, it is crucial to remain at the technical forefront, which complicates the ability to predict future breakthroughs and determine specific technological needs over the next decade. Consequently, FIRST has been established with maximum flexibility in mind. An open concept allows for prompt responses to the evolving scientific landscape and welcomes emerging research groups. FIRST-Lab is motivated by scientific inquiry, with technology serving as a critical tool for research.
