Position Summary

The FIA is seeking a dedicated Liaison Officer to join its Motorsport Funding Programme (MFP) team. Based in Geneva, this role supports the development of grassroots motorsport worldwide, working closely with FIA Member Clubs to shape impactful sport initiatives and funding proposals. The Liaison Officer will help coordinate international programmes, promote inclusive participation, and ensure visibility for projects that drive positive change in motorsport communities.

A key part of the role involves championing gender equity and broader Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) goals, with a focus on increasing representation and engagement of women and underrepresented groups in motorsport. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the governing body of motorsport and the federation of the world's leading motoring organizations. The FIA is an international non-profit association.

Main Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Liaison:
    • Serve as the primary contact between the MFP and FIA Member Clubs.
    • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, particularly in emerging motorsport regions.
    • Provide guidance on integrating equity and inclusion into club development strategies.
    • Collaborate with organisations that promote gender equality and social inclusion, especially those supporting women in motorsport.
  • Programme and Project Development:
    • Assist clubs in designing tailored sport development projects.
    • Contribute to strategies that broaden access to motorsport, especially for underrepresented communities.
    • Ensure alignment of grassroots initiatives with FIA’s broader strategic goals.
  • Fundraising:
    • Support the creation and implementation of funding strategies to enhance programme reach and sustainability.
    • Help identify new funding opportunities and assist in preparing compelling proposals.
    • Review and refine project submissions to ensure quality and impact.
    • Advise on funding options that prioritise inclusive and gender-equity-focused initiatives.
  • DE&I Integration:
    • Promote the integration of DE&I principles across all supported projects.
    • Work with clubs to implement inclusive practices tailored to local contexts.
    • Encourage the development of accessible motorsport environments.
    • Support clubs in establishing metrics to track progress on gender and inclusion goals.
  • Grassroots and Athlete Development:
    • Help design initiatives that support grassroots engagement and talent pathways.
    • Advocate for inclusive access to motorsport, with a focus on youth, women, and underserved groups.
    • Monitor programme outcomes and assist clubs in setting up effective evaluation systems.
    • Facilitate pathways for female drivers, officials, engineers, and team managers.
  • Communication:
    • Contribute to the promotion of funded programmes through storytelling, media content, and reporting.
    • Support branding and social media efforts to highlight the impact of development initiatives.
    • Collaborate with the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission to showcase women’s achievements.
    • Encourage narratives that reflect the diversity of voices within motorsport.
  • International Coordination and Reporting:
    • Coordinate with FIA departments and Member Clubs to ensure consistent programme delivery.
    • Maintain systems for tracking project progress, compliance, and impact.
    • Prepare regular updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in Sports Management.
    • Additional training in Sport and Sustainability is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience in sports management, ideally within international organisations.
    • Strong knowledge of motorsport is highly valued.
    • Experience in programmes promoting women’s participation in sport is a strong asset.
    • Proven track record in grassroots and elite athlete development.
    • Project management across diverse regions, especially MENA.
    • Fundraising and resource mobilisation.
    • Sport development, sustainability, and DEI.
    • Branding and content creation in a sports context.
    • Background as a former elite athlete is considered an advantage.
  • Cultural and Regional Expertise:
    • Deep understanding of sporting and cultural dynamics in MENA and Asia.
    • Experience working in multilingual, multicultural environments.
    • Skilled in managing complex, multi-stakeholder international projects.
    • Awareness of intersectionality and challenges faced by underrepresented groups in sport.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Proficiency in additional languages such as Arabic, Farsi, or Malay is highly desirable.
