Here, your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded.

The Human Organoid Platform employs human retinal organoids coupled with genome engineering techniques to create disease models and evaluate novel gene-therapy approaches for human blinding disorders. Our platform is continuously innovating methodologies to enhance the culture and analysis of retinal organoids and is dedicated to implementing new read-outs for ocular disease phenotypes within these organoids.

Your Responsibilities

  • In vitro culture of human pluripotent stem cells and retinal organoids.
  • Genome engineering of pluripotent stem cells using CRISPR/Cas9, along with characterization of mutant iPSCs and organoids.
  • Vector construction and molecular cloning.
  • Analysis of retinal organoids through various histology and microscopy techniques.
  • Application and enhancement of new methodologies to improve organoid culture and analysis.
  • Participation in figure and paper preparation.
  • Contribution to lab management and organization.
  • Close collaboration with team members and other IOB groups.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or a related field.
  • Excellent aseptic cell culture techniques.
  • Experience with confocal microscopy and image analysis workflows.
  • Independence in planning, conducting, analyzing, and troubleshooting molecular biology and cell culture experiments.
  • Willingness to work with lentivirus, human tissue, and standard hazardous laboratory compounds.
