Job Purpose and Impact

Ocean Transportation is one of the world’s largest bulk charterers, dedicated to serving Cargill’s and third-party worldwide commodity shipping activities across the mineral, agricultural, and petroleum sectors.

The Middle Office Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate entry of all components related to Daily Position & PNL. The analyst will support the delivery of financial analysis tied to the Business Group’s activities, engage in profitability and month-end reporting, identify process improvements, contribute to data management and visualization, and respond to ad hoc management requests.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to collaborate with various teams within the Business Group and across different locations, allowing for global networking and interaction with diverse cultures and nationalities. Regular performance reviews will be conducted, and development goals will be established to maximize the potential for future senior roles or transitions into different departments or business groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform daily operational activities, including trade confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and all trade life cycle events to ensure internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Act as a key liaison with traders and other internal and external counterparties to manage operational tasks and effectively communicate and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor and run system processes, control reports, system feeds, reference and static data, as well as conduct error analysis and remediation actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
  • Contribute to process and system changes necessary to implement new trade structures and support business growth.
  • Suggest improvements and system enhancements to mitigate risks, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
  • Independently resolve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with exchange-listed futures, options, over-the-counter cleared derivatives, and other relevant financial instruments in commodities.
  • Ability to leverage financial and business systems to monitor activities and aid in decision-making.
  • Confirmed operational knowledge regarding the end-to-end trade flows and life cycles of exchange-listed futures, options, and over-the-counter cleared derivatives.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the shipping industry or energy markets.
  • Technical knowledge of mark-to-market valuation and position modeling methodologies, as well as trading P&L calculation.
  • Strong IT literacy and a demonstrated ability to learn new systems, tools, and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Self-starter who works well both independently and in a team, taking full accountability for tasks.
  • Dynamic, self-confident, enthusiastic, and proactive.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Experience with databases and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
